Designed as part of a major initiative by Vic Roads to discourage vehicular road use on the Eastern freeway when travelling from the outer suburbs into the CBD. The brief was to provide a comfortable station for travellers to wait for their bus to arrive. The accommodation includes an enclosed air-conditioned room as well as spread-out covered external seating. All are designed to be easily seen from a distance and recognized as a focal point to enable travellers to utilize the service. The building is designed to be vandal-proof and of low maintenance.
